Organ Donation Awareness at S A College of Arts & Science

  • SA College of Arts and Science (SACAS), established in 2019 is affiliated to the University of Madras located at Avadi Main Rd, Chennai. On August 08, 2022 an awareness session was organized for the students, so they could understand the basic concepts and participate in the upcoming awareness cycle rally on Aug 12, 2022.  A team of Mr Ganesh, Marketing Coordinator and Ms Gayathri and Ms Nagashree, interns of MMM College of Health Sciences conducted the sessions.

     

    The awareness session was organized in the college auditorium, filled with energetic   audience. The session commenced with Tamizhthaai Vazthu, and a warm welcome speech by the college student. Dr. Sayi Satyavathi, Director of SACAS introduced MOHAN Foundation, and shared her personal experience on Deceased Organ Donation in 2005.

     

    Mr. Ganesh C explained the concepts of organ donation, brain death, transplantation, safe guarding against false scams, myths on organ donation, registering as Organ Donor/Recipient and effective usage of Organ Donation Helpline: 1800 103 7100. Meanwhile Ms. Gayathri and Ms. Nagashree supported with the distribution of green ribbons and information pamphlets.

     

    182 student and teaching staff participated and made the event a memorable one. The students gave positive feedback stating “the session was more informative”. The program came to conclusion with vote of thanks and the whole session was streamed on SACAS YouTube channel.

     

    The College Management was presented with Organ Donation Helpline Stickers for placing on the college vehicles. MOHAN Foundation whole heartedly thanks Dr Malathi Selvakumar, The Principal SACAS, Dr. Sayi Satyavathi, Director of SACAS for this wonderful opportunity and Mr. Vijayakumar, Mr Srinivasan and the technical team for their support through the event.
