An awareness on Organ Donation and Transplantation was organized for students of Allied Health Sciences of Frontier Lifeline Academy at the Hospital conference hall on July 06, 2022. 68 students and staff participated and made the event a successful one.
Ms Sandhya Cherian, Vice President of Frontier Hospital, the daughter of Padma Shri Dr. K. M Cherian, commenced the session with a warm welcome address. After a brief introduction about MOHAN Foundation Dr. Hemal Kanvinde enlightened the audience with an awareness on Organ Donation and Transplantation, brain death and how to pledge as organ donors. The usage of Organ Donation Helpline 1800 103 7100 was explained. An educative video on determination of Brain Death was played. During the awareness program the process of organ transplantation was explained through activity-based learning and the audience rejoiced this learning.
Ms Sandhya Cherian expressed the feelings of her father on India's first coronary artery bypass surgery and her hospital to organise India’s first Green Corridor Facility. The session came to an end with Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator, explaining about the online courses conducted by MOHAN Foundation.
MOHAN Foundation is grateful to the management of Frontier Lifeline Hospital and the Academy for providing the opportunity, and Mr Abinav, Transplant Coordinator of Frontier Lifeline Hospital and Ms. Nagashree N – Intern for the support through the event. 19 students came forward to pledge as a donor.
