MOHAN Foundation is observing Organ Donor Week from 6th to 11th August 2012 in commemoration of deceased organ donors. The MOHAN Foundation team is involved in spreading the word on organ donation to different sections of the public all through the week. As a part of this, an organ donation awareness talk for the NSS and NCC cadets of A.M. Jain College was arranged on 7th August 2012.
Dr. R. Narasimhan, Principal, A.M. Jain College who spoke during the inaugural address appreciated MOHAN Foundation for the noble service that it was rendering to society. He also spoke about various instances in Chennai where families had donated their loved ones’ organs and the value of organ donation. He also said that helping others live even after one’s death is what constitutes real service to God.
Ms. Sindhuja, Transplant coordinator addressed the students on organ donation and the importance of organ donation. Various questions were raised by the highly enthused students on coma and brain death, about xenotransplant, and survival rate of a person after a transplant. They also promised to continue spreading the message of organ donation among their peers.
This event saw a gathering of over 200 participants who pledged for donor cards. A special word of thanks is due from the MOHAN Foundation team to Lt T. Thulasiraman, NCC officer and NSS Programme Officer, N. Elangovan, who made a great effort to organize this event.
