In India, National Organ Donation Day is observed on November 27. As a part of this, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal in association with MOHAN Foundation organised a walkathon on November 28th to create awareness among the general public of In Manipal city about the noble cause of organ donation.
Dr. Avinash Shetty welcomed the gathering and Dr. Arun Chawla, Professor and Head Department of Urology gave an overview on the importance of Organ Donation. Dr. M D Venkatesh said “millions of people are waiting for organs but are not getting them because of a lack of awareness”.He also appreciated the activities of MOHAN Foundation and gave a detailed insight into the need for Organ donation
Dr Ballal elucidated the importance of organ donation and appreciated MOHAN Foundation Team for organising a walkathon to create awareness in the general public. The Walkathon began from MAHE -Tiger Circle-MIT circle, -Tiger circle, and Syndicate circle and ended at MAHE.
More than 400 people including doctors, students, Mohan Foundation staff, and hospital staff participated in the event.
