Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Tilak College, Vashi, Navi Mumbai

  • On August 12, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Tilak College, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The session, organized by Mrs. Mansi Jain, a professor at the college, was attended by 122 students after the session all of whom took the pledge.

    Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi led the session by introducing the MOHAN Foundation and its objectives. She began with a series of questions to engage the audience, then provided a detailed presentation on the need and importance of organ donation.

    Key topics covered included:

    1. Why donate organs?
    2. Who can donate?
    3. Age limits for organ donation.
    4. Organs that can be donated in natural and brain death scenarios.
    5. The concepts of brain death and circulatory death.
    6. Organ donation scenarios in India compared to the rest of the world.
    7. Myths versus facts about organ donation.
    8. Ways the audience can get involved in the cause of organ donation.
    9. The importance of carrying a donor card.
    10. Information about the organ donation helpline 1800 103 1700.

    The session was both interesting and interactive. Students asked insightful questions, including the process of skin donation and whether an organ recipient should pay the donor's family for receiving an organ.

    The MOHAN Foundation extends its gratitude to Tilak College for organizing the session and supporting the cause of organ donation.
