Dr. Sengupta, ex-dean of SIES Management (Nerul) and Chairman of ‘My Retired Life’, a senior citizen’s group, invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation on 17th March 2018, for its members.
Mrs. Jaya Jairambegan the session with asking the audience what thoughts came to their minds when they thought of organ donation. A few of them expressed that it was a noble deed and that it could save lives while a few of them shared their apprehensions.
She then went on to explain to the audience the meaning of Organ donation and who, why, when and how it can be done. She also discussed about the myths and facts surrounding the subject. She ended the session by sharing with them her own personal story of how her kidneys had failed and how her life was saved by her mother who donated a kidney to her.
Many queries were addressed with respect to differences between coma and brain death, tissue donations at home and age limit for donations.
Out of the 50 odd audience, around 20 took the pledge and vowed to work for this cause.
We thank Dr Sengupta and Col D. P. Singh for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
