A one day awareness camp on organ donation was set up in the premises of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 25th February, 2013 to spread awareness on organ donation amongst the common public.
The information desk was set up in the MCD Park opposite the hospital’s emergency unit so as to reach maximum people (patients and attendants) who wait in the park and nearby area. Queries like how to pledge one's organs, if the donor card should be kept with the person pledging the organs or the foundation; were aptly handled by MOHAN Foundation's representatives. The importance of sharing the decision to pledge one's organs with the family members was also stressed. Fliers and donor cards were distributed. There was a good response to the awareness kiosk. Whoever visited the desk was quite motivated and immediately pledged their organs. We reached out to about 100 people and 67 donor cards were distributed.
After getting a fairly good response from the common public, we wish to organize another such camp in the coming months.
