  • On August 23, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted an enlightening awareness session on organ and tissue donation at Kirti M. Doongursee College, specifically for NCC girl students. Ms. Sakshi led the session, which was attended by 45 enthusiastic students. The presentation provided a thorough overview of organ and tissue donation, covering key topics such as eligibility, the donation process, and the critical role of donation in saving lives.

Throughout the session, Ms. Sakshi addressed various questions from the students, demonstrating her comprehensive knowledge of the subject. The students were particularly interested in understanding the specifics of organ donation, asking about the timeframe for heart transplantation, the role of police officers in the donation process, and the function of heart valves. Additionally, they asked why only brain-dead patients are considered suitable organ donation.

Ms. Sakshi provided detailed answers to all queries, explaining that heart transplantation requires precise timing due to the delicate nature of the procedure and the need for immediate action once an organ becomes available. She also clarified the role of police officers in ensuring the proper handling of organ donation cases and the legal and procedural aspects involved. Furthermore, she discussed the function of heart valves and why brain death is a critical criterion for organ donation, emphasizing that brain death ensures the donor's organs are viable for transplantation.

The session was well-received, with the students gaining valuable insights into the importance of organ donation and its impact on healthcare. Ms. Sakshi's engaging and informative presentation fostered a deeper understanding of the subject among the attendees, highlighting the vital role of education in promoting organ donation.
