Organ Donation Awareness Session at Smt. P N Doshi College, Ghatkopar, Navi Mumbai

  • On July 16, 2024, Ms. Prarthana from MOHAN Foundation conducted a compelling organ donation awareness session at Smt. P N Doshi College, Ghatkopar, Navi Mumbai. The session aimed to educate 166 NSS students about the importance of organ and tissue donation, challenging ingrained misconceptions and encouraging them to contemplate these critical issues.

    The presentation began with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation, emphasizing the urgent need to raise awareness about organ donation. A PowerPoint presentation highlighted the impact of cornea donation in alleviating corneal blindness, accompanied by current statistics. The primary goal was to sensitively address these topics often overlooked in mainstream education, prompting thoughtful engagement from the students.

    The students demonstrated active participation and expressed interest in learning more about organ donation. Several students were eager to take the pledge to become organ donors, facilitated through the sharing of the Organ Donation Pledge link and MOHAN Foundation's 24x7 helpline number.

    During the interactive session, the audience posed pertinent questions, including inquiries about the concept of a green corridor, the utilization of donated skin in burn cases, and how quickly donated organs from deceased donors should be transplanted. Ms. Prarthana provided detailed explanations to clarify these queries, ensuring a comprehensive understanding among the attendees.

    Total 166 partcipants took the pledge after the interactive session.

    Ms. Prarthana extended sincere gratitude to Mrs. Aarti and Dr. Manju, in charge of the NSS Unit at Smt. P N Doshi College, Ghatkopar, Navi Mumbai, for their invitation and unwavering support for the cause of organ donation.
