On August 14, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the staff members of Pushpam Lord Resort at Karjat. The session was organized by Mr. Akshay Nair and led by Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar and Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi.
Ms. Sakshi introduced the MOHAN Foundation, explaining that the acronym stands for 'Multi-Organ Harvesting Aid Network.' She discussed the types of organs that can be donated by live donors in emergencies and elaborated on cardiac and brain death, including which organs and tissues can be donated in each case.
Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi addressed various myths and facts about organ donation and handled a Q&A session with the hotel staff. Questions from the staff included whether a living donor can donate a heart, the process for body donation, and whether the cost of organ donation is borne by the family or the hospital. The session was attended by 48 staff members, and informational brochures on organ donation were distributed.
