Organ Donation Awareness (Session 3) at Vijaya Health Center

  • In continuation with the two awareness sessions on organ donation, at Vijaya Health Centre, MOHAN Foundation organized a third awareness program. This was held at the NRI MET auditorium of the Vijaya Health Centre Vadapalani on November 17, 2022 at 3.00pm. Staff (94)  from nursing, electrical and maintenance, OPD, front desk, physician assistants from the hospital attended the session

     

    MOHAN Foundation team comprising of Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Mr Ganesh C and Mr. Kennedy supported in organizing the event. Dr V Ganesan, Academic Director & Clinical Safety Officer of Vijaya Health Centre commenced the session with a brief introduction to Vijaya Hospital and introduced the speakers to the new set of audience.  

     

    Mr Kennedy supported the staff with registering as organ donors and with the distribution of green ribbons and information brochures.

     

    Dr Hemal, Quality Assurance Officer spoke on the Concept of Organ Donation and Transplantation.   Why, When and how organ donation takes place, Brain Death, the myths and how to pledge were explained to the audience.  Some of the senior staff (more than 10 years) had an idea about brain death and has professional experience with donor maintenance. At the end of the lecture a film explaining brain death was shown.

     

    Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator conducted a short quiz based in Tamil movies. The quiz made the audience aware of the misrepresentation of the facts about organ donation.

     

    The session concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Ganesan and group picture, all the 94 staff pledged to support organ donation and few enthusiastic staff took picture with donor cards to post on social media.
