On Sunday, August 4, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation was invited to Millennium Shopping Mall, Sanpada, to conduct an awareness program on organ donation in conjunction with a blood donation camp. The event was organized by Mr. Ram in celebration of 'Manoj Jarange Patil’s Birthday' for members of the Sakal Maratha Samaj and blood donor volunteers.
The program was inaugurated by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, Public Education Counsellor of the MOHAN Foundation, Navi Mumbai. The Chemist Blood Bank, Sanpada, supported the event with arrangements and crowd management, further aiding in spreading awareness among the general public, Sakal Maratha Samaj members, and blood donor volunteers. The blood donation camp aimed to collect blood for patients in need, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Ms. Prarthana introduced the MOHAN Foundation, explaining key concepts of organ and tissue donation, including types of death (cardiac and brain death) and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She provided detailed information on bone donation, a new topic for many participants, and discussed how skin and eye donations can be facilitated even at home after a person’s demise. Informative flyers were distributed to the attendees. Ms. Prarthana emphasized the importance of discussing organ donation within families and carrying a donor card at all times.
The blood donation camp successfully collected 83 units of blood, with all participating members contributing to this noble cause. A total of 89 participants attended the awareness session, and 28 individuals pledged to become organ donors.
The MOHAN Foundation extends its gratitude to Mr. Ram for organizing the event and supporting the cause of organ donation.
