On August 8, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation conducted an impactful awareness program on organ donation at R G Naik College, Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai. The event was graciously hosted by Mr. Datta Ghodake, the Principal of the college, who played a crucial role in organizing the session.
Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi led the program, beginning with an introduction to the MOHAN Foundation and its dedicated efforts in promoting organ donation. She engaged the students by encouraging them to share their personal thoughts and feelings about organ donation, fostering an open and interactive atmosphere.
Throughout the presentation, Ms. Prarthana covered essential topics related to organ donation. She explained the concept and procedures involved in body donation and clarified the differences between brain death and cardiac death, emphasizing their significance in the context of organ donation. She also discussed various types of donors and provided detailed information on the procedures for eye and skin donation. The session concluded with guidance on how to pledge organs, empowering students to make informed decisions.
The program sparked lively discussions among the participants, who actively engaged with the topic by asking insightful questions. Queries included the timeline for whole-body donation and the process of hand donation, reflecting a deep interest in the subject matter.
Ms. Prarthana’s dedication and expertise inspired all 152 participants to pledge their organs, demonstrating a significant impact on raising awareness and fostering a culture of donation. Both the principal and students expressed their appreciation for her work in promoting organ donation.
