On 21st and 22nd August 2024, an Organ Donation Ambassador training was conducted for 54 members of the Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Samellan (ABMMS). It was an online training. The leader of their Organ and Tissue donation project, Mrs Renu Agarwal ably assisted by Mrs. Sandhya Agarwal got their members to sign up for the training. The two day training was to get all volunteers to understand the complex nature of organ donation.
Day 1:
Day 1 started with Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, MOHAN Foundation giving an orientation on Angels of Change program to the participants.

The Concepts of Organ and Tissue Donation as well as the basics of Body Donation. Myths and facts on Organ Donation were also discussed by Ms. Arshiya Fathima, MOHAN Foundation.
The next session was on Tips for body donation, this was elaborated by Dr. Vaishaly Bharambe, Symbiosis Medical College, Pune.
This session was followed by Dr. Anupma Kaul, SGPGI, Lucknow,
Her session was on understanding kidney failure and its management. Interesting successful life story was shared by Ms. Jaya Jairam Project Director of MOHAN Foundation. Finally day 1 ended with Q & A session:
Post the talks there was a discussion on causes of brain death, difficult procedures for body donation, the relevance of a donor registry and how to improve the understanding on organ donation among the public, Challenging faced by recipient .
Day 2:
Dr. Hemal Kanvinde started with a recall of the sessions of the day 1.
Followed by the session on Counselling for tissue and organ donation -
Case discussion was taken by Dr Amit Joshi, Bombay Hospital, Indore. He shared different cases were he handled as a transplant coordinator. More needed here
After this interaction Dr Muneet conducted a workshop on “Writing a Thank You Letter” to a donor family. She gave tips and the letters were read by the participants. A few had personal experience of organ failure/ transplant and donation and these were discussed. More needed here
After writing Thank you Letter , the session started with experts they were Dr. Indrajeet Tiwary, GI Critical Care & Liver Transplant Kolkata , Dr Nagraj Naik Nephrologist, Hubballi & Mr Rajni Kant Dual Lung recipient, Jamshedpur, the discussion was on pediatric donation , challenges faced by the recipients post transplant.
