One day Workshop on Organ Donation organized by MOHAN Foundation for St. Ignatius Hospital Research and Health Sciences, Honnavar

  • Sister Daina (Principal) of St. Ignatius Hospital Research and Health Sciences, Honnavar invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an interactive one day workshop on organ donation for college students and staff of St. Ignatius Hospital Research and Health Sciences. MOHAN Foundation team organized the program on 11th, August 2023. Additionally, students from nearby medical centers such as Bhadravathi Nursing College from Shivamogga and RNS Nursing College from Murudeshwara also participated.  Around 1800 audience participated in the event.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mrs.Ranjini Shankar M S, Project Manager and Mrs. Sheetal Mundada transplant coordinator.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • Introduction about Mohan Foundation
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • The Burden of Organ failure & need for organ donation
    • Importance of a Donor Card

    Following the session, we had them watch "Phir Zindagi." Post lunch, we organized a competition session to further engage the participants. This included activities like role-playing in grief counseling and poster making.

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS gave a brief insight into MOHAN Foundation courses and motivated the students and staff to pledge for organ donation

    All the 1800 audience supported the cause by taking the pledge for organ donation.

    Towards the end of the program, participation certificates, brochures and donor cards were distributed to all the students at the end of the session

    MOHAN Foundation thanks the Sister Daina (Principal) of St. Ignatius Hospital Research and Health Sciences, Honnavar for their support towards the cause of Organ donation.
