We are happy to announce the “One Week Transplant Coordinators’ Training Programme” under the aegis of National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India and Jeevasarthakathe. This programme is being organised by Institute of Gastroenterology Sciences and Organ Transplantation, Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute - Superspeciality Hospital (BMCRI - SSH) and MOHAN Foundation from 29th October – 2nd November 2018 at Bengaluru.
The success of organ donation and transplantation depends upon good counseling and coordination by transplant coordinators. The Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Act, 2011, has made Transplant Coordinator nomination mandatory before a hospital is registered as a Transplant Centre. This means there is a huge requirement of Transplant Coordinators in close to 400 Transplant centres in the country.
In order to meet the growing demand for Transplant Coordinators, MOHAN Foundation has embarked upon training programmes to suit the needs of these health care professionals. We have conducted 57 training programmes in the country and trained 2007 transplant coordinators over the past eight years (December 2009 – October 2018).
