The Module 2 of Batch 19 of the Organ Donation Ambassador Training was held online on Nov 19, 2022. 33 Nursing students of K J Somaiya School and College of Nursing attended the session. The external faculty were Dr. Sumedh Sonawane of Anatomy Department of Nair Medical College, Dr Balaji Kirushnan, nephrologist of Cauvery Hospital, Chennai, Dr Rekha Barot, Transplant Manager, Kokilben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Mr Ananth Acharya, Kidney Transplant Recipient. Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi and Dr Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation were also faculty for this training.
Dr Hemal began with an introduction to the concept of Organ Donation Ambassador and how the training can benefit the volunteers to communicate with the public. The interaction with the external faculty was the next session, some of the discussion was based on

Who are good candidates for a transplant
Family life and child bearing prospects for a woman post kidney transplant
What are the counselling done for a donor and recipient for a transplant
Case story of a deceased donation
As a recipient what were the most important points during counselling
Dr Hemal thanked all the external faculty for their time and interest in answering the queries.
After this discussion, Dr Hemal discussed the various ways of creating awareness by showing an illustrative presentation. The modes such as rallies, marathons, information desks and talks as well as creatives such as blogs, stories, poems, posters, pictures and rangoli as forms to create awareness were discussed.
The next two sessions were conducted by Dr Muneet kaur Sahi. The first session was on Writing a Thank You Letter for a donor family. This exercise based session helped the volunteers to gain a sense of empathy towards the donor family.
The next session was on the elements of a good presentation on Organ Donation in content, flow and presentation skills. Dr Muneet showed her own presentation as an example.
At the end Dr Hemal thanked the volunteers for their time for the training.
