On November 19, 2022, MOHAN Foundation organized a masterclass on “Crowdfunding for your patients”- a workshop in collaboration with Network and Alliance of Transplant Coordinators (NATCO) for its employees and NATCO members. The workshop was supported by SBI Foundation & SBI Cards.
In India, medical expenses are one of the biggest causes of poverty that adversely impacts millions of lives each year. People seek affordable ways to fund medical treatments for their critical illnesses by raising funds on crowdfunding platforms. Through crowdfunding, patients and their families receive financial help for medical-related expenses such as covering long-standing hospital bills, surgery costs, treatment expenses, post-surgery expenses etc by raising donations from a large group of generous donors.
The objective of the masterclass was to equip participants with “Medical Crowdfunding” through various online crowdfunding platforms such as Milaap, Ketto, Impact guru, Gofundme & Kickstarter. The participants learned how to use crowdfunding to raise money for the poor and underprivileged patients, who struggle to afford organ transplants, post-transplant treatments and pre & post-transplant medical expenses. Ms. Aanisah Talukder, Team Lead, Campaign Management, Milaap was the invited faculty for the session.
