Smt. Narbada Devi J Agarwal Vivekananda Vidyalaya Junior College, Vyasarpadi, Chennai organized a Blood, Eye, and Organ Donation camp at their school premises on 1st September, 2019. MOHAN Foundation was invited to set up an information desk for spreading awareness on organ donation.
Ishwarya Thyagarajan, from MOHAN Foundation was at the school to man the stall. The programme began with an invocation by the students followed by an inaugural address by Smt. Subhashree Ravichandran, Principal of the school. The Chief Guests, Dr. M Ravikumar- Chief Staff Surgeon and Chief Orthopedic Surgeon of Railways Hospital and Mr. R. Alagesan- Asst. Commissioner of Police (MKB Nagar range) spoke about the importance of blood donation. They were felicitated by the school correspondent alongside two doctors from the Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, the organisers of the blood donation camp.
The stall had information brochures on organ donation and donor cards. A few parents of students studying in the school, alumni of the school and a few others had come to donate blood. The stall which was open from 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM received a few visitors of whom 4 registered and supported organ donation by pledging their organs and receiving their donor cards.
