MOHAN Foundation had organised an Angel of change volunteer programs for the NSS students of MD College on 21st and 22nd March, 2017.
There were 15 students who had attended the sessions. Before starting up the workshop they were given Pre-Awareness test.
A detailed awareness session was conducted on Organ Donation which included concepts of Transplant, Tissue matching, Brain Death, its causes, how can it be Identified, barriers and myths in Organ Donation. Lastly the students were shown a 2 minute video on how One Donor can save many lives and that death is not the end.
In the second module we invited a Donor family for the students to interact and understand their experiences.
After this Mrs. Jaya spoke about her own personal story from a recipient’s point of view, what she underwent prior to receiving a kidney transplant and how it has motivated her to support the cause of organ donation.
Lastly the students were shown one hour movie “Phir Zindagi” to know how the process of Organ Donation happens.
Many queries were asked and answered. All the students stood up and took a pledge to donate their organs after they are no more. All of them signed up for donor cards and they vowed to work for the cause within their circles of friends and family.
We wish to convey our heartfelt gratitude to Prof B.T.Nikam and Prof Asha Kumbhar for their encouraging support.
