MOHAN Foundation invited by Honda India Foundation to conduct an awareness session on Organ Donation at Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India, Manesar, Haryana

  • On May 14, 2024, MOHAN Foundation held an awareness session on organ donation for the staff at Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India in Manesar, Haryana. The session was organized in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Honda India Foundation, with key involvement from Mr. Vinay Dhingra, Senior HR, Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India; Mr. Satya Prakash Patil, Operating Head, Honda India Foundation; and Mr. Kamal Singh, Manager, Honda India Foundation. Mr. Anuj Nagpal, CII Chapter Lead, Gurugram, also attended.

     

    Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director of MOHAN Foundation, led the session, supported by Ms. Simran Anand and Ms. Sanya Santosh, Program Officers, MF NCR. Mr. Kamal welcomed Mr. Anuj and Ms. Pallavi, who initiated the workshop by engaging participants on their knowledge of organ donation, with some sharing personal experiences.

     

    The session included two short films and a detailed PowerPoint presentation covering:

    - The need for organ donation

    - The status of organ donation in India

    - Organs that can be donated during life and after death

    - Transplant law

    - Cornea donation

    - Brain death and its causes

    - Differences between brain death and coma

    - Contraindications to organ donation

    - The role of MOHAN Foundation and the public in raising awareness

    - Myths and facts about organ donation

     

    Key discussion points included:

    - How recipients get organs

    - How to volunteer for organ donation

    - The importance of family consent

     

    During the Q&A, a participant shared his 12-year-old daughter’s need for a heart transplant. Post-session, Mr. Vinay Dhingra emailed Ms. Pallavi, expressing gratitude for the informative session. Nearly 100 participants attended, leaving motivated to support organ donation.
