On October 16, 2014, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation for the employees of SAP Labs India Private Limited, Gurgaon.
The talk at Gurgaon office was the brain child of Mr. Gunjan C Patel, Head, CSR India, SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd who had earlier organised and coordinated with MOHAN Foundation for an information kiosk on organ donation in SAP Forum held in the month of August, 2014 at J. W. Marriot Hotel, Aero city, New Delhi. In Gurgaon office the session was spearheaded by Mr. Pravesh Verma, Principal Software Engineer, SAP GRC, R&D Controls.
The talk was incorporated into ‘The Month of Service,’ the company’s CSR activity where various activities befitting the initiative are conducted. Similar motions had been undertaken in all the offices of SAP around the globe during the service month based on SAP's social investment strategy, "to help the world run better and improve people's lives".
The session covered topics like concept of organ donation, brain death, difference between cardiac death and brain death and also showed a conclusive video clip explaining the concept of brain death. The transplantation law (THO Act) was also explained in detail and finally the session was concluded touching upon some myths and facts related to organ donation. While answering to a question put forth by Dr. Muneet, a female participant went on to describe in detail the concept of brain death which was surprising considering the lack of knowledge on the particular sub-topic.
The session was attended by 15 people and 7 donor cards were picked up.
