On 7th October, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation was organised for the employees of Encore Capital Group, Gurgaon, Delhi-NCR. The initiative to organise was taken by Ms. Kusum Makhija, Corporate Communications, Encore Capital Group as part of the ‘joy of giving’ week observed by the company. The session was conducted by MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR.
Encore Capital Group is a leading provider of debt management and recovery solutions for consumers and property owners across a broad range of assets. Since most of the employees are call center executives and do not have access to external websites on their official systems it was suggested that a physical sign up drive would be more effective than an online one.
Ms. Pallavi Kumar, Executive Director, MOHAN Foundation, Delhi-NCR and Ms. Seema Yadav, Transplant Coordinator, Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon, Delhi-NCR conducted the session. Most of the employees said that although they had heard about the concept of organ donation they were not familiar with a lot of details. Ms. Kumar spoke to them about organ donation and transplantation; and Ms. Yadav spoke to them about the apnoea test performed before declaring a patient brain dead.
The participants asked a lot of queries about organ donation and transplantation. Ms. Kumar and Ms. Yadav answered all of them. Fliers with detailed information about the issue were also distributed.
About 25 employees attended the talk and around 22 donor cards were picked up.
