MOHAN Foundation conducts a volunteer training programme for students of Thiruthangal Nadar College

  • MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted its 10th Angels of Change Volunteer Training Programme for the students of Bachelors of Social Work, Thiruthangal Nadar College on 4th September 2018 at its office premises in Kilpauk. The session began at 11AM with 29 students registering their names and contact details. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, Mr. T. S. Siva Shankar, Helpline Executive and Ms. Ann Alex, Programme Associate were the session moderators.

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde introduced MOHAN Foundation, its activities, and the volunteer training programme. Following this, the students were split into 3 groups with designated leaders:  (a) public survey team; (b) events and organizing team; and (c) public speaking team for facilitating the workshop.

    The next segment by Ms. Ann Alex focused on the need for organ donation and importance of its awareness. It was an interactive and enjoyable session where the students came up with various ideas on social media campaigning. Around 12PM the public survey team went for a survey on organ donation accompanied by Mr. Amal and Ms. Hepzibah (interns from MMM College).

    Post lunch, the students was asked to read the stories of a few organ donors and write their comments. Following a video clip where an organ recipient shared his experience, the students wrote sample thank you notes for donor families and the best note was rewarded. In the last segment the students presented their work in the form of posters, mock awareness talks and also shared the analyzed survey data.

    Having been trained as Angels of Change they have decided to organize awareness programmes near their college in the upcoming days. The session concluded with the students thanking MOHAN Foundation for an engaging and educative experience. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Mr Vasanth, Faculty and the management of Thiruthangal Nadar College.
