


On 11th January 2014, Ms. Kanchan Shewde & Mr. Bulu Behera transplant co-ordinators, MOHAN Foundation were invited by Dr. D. S. Sukhadeve, Professor of Dr. M. K. Umatha & R Mokhare College at Haladgaon. The occasion was a NSS camp and activity was creating awareness among the NSS students about deceased organ donation.
Mr. Bulu Behera & Miss. Kanchan Shewde gave a presentation which highlighted:
Organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death, natural death and while living.
Brain death and cardiac death.
Importance of consent of family for donation.
Helpline number and donor card.
After the talk, students discussed the following questions.
1) Coma & brain death is it same or different?
2) After natural death which organ can be donate?
3) After retrieval of organ how much time till organ transplant?
4) What is the process for kidney transplant?
21 NSS volunteers attended the session and one participant signed the pledge form.
