MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on Organ Donation at Cloudnine Hospital, Patparganj, New Delhi

  • On July 22, 2024, MOHAN Foundation NCR office conducted an organ donation awareness session at Cloudnine Hospital (CH). Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, MF NCR, was the speaker for the session, accompanied by Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officer, MF NCR. The session was attended by HR staff, admin staff, nursing interns, ward nurses, and ICU staff.

     

    Ms. Kirti Giri, HR at CH Patparganj, coordinated the session. This marked MF's second time leading a session at CH this year.

     

    Ms. Simran began the session by asking participants what they knew about organ donation. She then explained the current status of organ donation in India and covered the basic concepts of organ donation and transplantation using a PowerPoint presentation.

     

    The term brain death was explained with the help of a short informative film. Ms. Simran detailed the steps involved in brain death declaration and clarified the concept of legal death.

     

    The following topics were explained in detail:

    • What organ donation is and its need in society

    • Who can be an organ donor

    • Explanation about live and deceased donors

    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death

    • Brain death

    • Eye donation and steps required to preserve the cornea after death

    • Whole body donation

    • Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994

    • Role of MOHAN Foundation

    • How individuals can contribute to this noble cause

    • Myths and facts about organ donation

    • Difference between coma and brain death

     

    Overall, the session was very interactive, with participants enthusiastically contributing to the discussion.

     

    Close to 25 participants attended the session.
