On March 2024, On the occasion of world kidney day the patient awareness programme was organised at API Hall A GMCH, Nagpur. The theme for this year was “Kidney Health for all- Advancing equitable access to care and optimal medication practice”. Department of Nephrology and Urologyhas organised this programme. Guest of honour for the day was Dr. Raj Gajbhiye- Dean GMCH Nagpur. Dr. Uday Narlawar-Vice dean, Dr. Milind Fulpatil- Joint director, Dr. Dhananjay Selukar- Head of unit of Urology, Dr. Atul Rajkondawar-HOD of medicine, Dr. Avinash Gawande- Medical superintendent and Dr Charulata attended the programme. Dr. Raj Gajbhiye raised awareness about the importance of Kidney transplant and motivated kidney patients for undergoing lifesaving kidney transplant surgery. Healso discussed about the incentives offered to patients in need of transplant. Dr Vandana Admane- Associate Professor in Nephrology department, briefed about evolution of the Nephrology department and brought out the remarkable achievement in the field of haemodialysis and kidneytransplant. Dr. Selukar emphasised on the importance of kidney health and risk factors associated with kidney disease. He spoke about the significance of routine health assessments, noting the influence of condition like diabetes and hypertension, alongside lifestyle choice, on kidney health.Dr. Charulata Bawankule, ex head of unit of nephrology was felicitated and applauded for her service to the nephrology department.Kidney donors were appreciated and felicitated by the guest. The team of nursing staff of the kidney unit and super speciality hospital and also transplant coordinator were appreciated for their dedication and commitment to patient care. On this occasion, free medicine was provided to thetransplant patients. Ms Bhagyashree and Ms Veena has distributed the MF Pamphlets to the participants. More than 100 people participated.
