Blossom Trust is committed to change the narrative from women as disadvantaged and impoverished, to women as agents of change and pillars of development, creating the opportunity for them to take ownership over their own empowerment.
On the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, 2023, the Blossom Trust arranged a program in two villages of Kalakudi and Kurichikulam under Manur taluk in Tirunelveli district. Around 50 people attended the program. MOHAN Foundation was invited to create awareness on organ donation and Ms Vijaya Lakshmi M, Intern from MMM College of Health Sciences was the speaker.
Chairman of Manur Union Ms. Srilekha presided over as the special guest and Ms. Nasrin, Sub-Inspector of Police, Manur gave a speech and special guests were writer Mrs. Uma Bakkiyam who explained various methods of self-employment about women education and women rights and Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi M who spoke on organ donation was also discussed in detail among the people.
The session started with a short Inaugural Ceremony. Ms. Vijaya Lakshmi M (MMM CHS Intern) began the session with an introduction of MOHAN Foundation. This was followed with a talk on the concepts of Organ Donation and Transplantation which included who, what, when and how donation can happen. She explained brain death and coma. Then she talked about Organ Donation Helpline 1800 103 7100.
A villager spoke of his experience as a living donor for his son. He gave some positive feedback about organ donation.
