  • Sanskriti Centre for Performing Arts at Thane celebrated its annual day,”AROHAN” on the 26th Nov 2017, wherein its students from different fields of arts, viz Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Carnatic Vocal, Hindustani Vocal, Keyboard, Tabla, Violin and Guitar performed and showcased their talent through dance and songs, to their parents and the audience.

This year, their Director, Mrs. Asha Sunilkumar, along with their teaching faculty, decided to make it extra special by inviting MOHAN Foundation for creating awareness about Organ Donation, among their students and their parents.

Arohan was conducted in two slots. For slot 1, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai’s Mrs.Jaya Jairam was invited as the chief guest. She spoke to the audience about how organ donation saved her own life and appealed to them to positively consider donating their own organs, thereby saving many more lives.

At the end of slot 1, the senior students from all faculties presented the grand finale very beautifully, in which they symbolically presented the story of Lord Ganesha, the first transplant recipient from the Hindu mythology.

For Arohan’s slot 2, MOHAN Foundation invited Dr.Darius Mirza, a Senior Consultant – Hepato Pancreatic Biliary Surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai and Consultant Transplant / HPB surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth and Children’s Hospitals, Birmingham, UK, as the Chief Guest. He was invited to address the audience, whereby he explained how critical the requirement of organs have become and why once should take the Pledge to donate their organs. He thereafter presented the awards to all the winners of Sanskriti’s “Yogya Puraskar” awards.

For the grand finale of slot 2, once again, the senior students presented Lord Ganesh’s story which wonderfully conveyed the message of organ donation.

Overall, the message was spread to around 1500 people during both the slots.

All through the day, MOHAN Foundation put up its awareness stall wherein MOHAN Foundation’s Miss.Vaidehi Patil addressed all the queries and helped many take the Pledge by filling up the Donor Cards.

MOHAN Foundation wishes to convey its sincere gratitude to Mrs.Asha Sunilkumar, the Director of Sanskriti Centre for Performing Arts for supporting the noble cause and Dr.Darius Mirza, liver expert, for presiding the event.
