MOHAN Foundation Conducts an Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Ishwar Singh Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, Sector 21, Chandigarh

  • On 25th December 2020, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the NSS Program Officer Ms. Kumari Komal to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS Students. Approximately 62 students from class 12th and 3 teachers attended the session.

    Ms. Kumari Komal, NSS Program Officer addressed the students and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to their students.

    Firstly, Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch introduced herself to the students and started asking them some interesting questions like which organs can be donated while living? Then she spoke to them on how India is facing an acute shortage of organ donors and that too many people are waiting for a transplant.

    Students were given an introduction & presentation on how important is organ donation and tissue donation by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • To pledge their organs, they can register at MOHAN Foundation website
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

    All the students got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. Students did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation Ms. Kumari Komal, NSS Program Officer, encouraged the students to create awareness in society about organ donation and also signed and pledged our donor card.
