MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets & Officers at NCC Complex, Sector-31D, Chandigarh

  • On 28th October 2021, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Wg. Cdr. B S Srinivas to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets & Officers at NCC Complex, Sector-31D, Chandigarh. Around 149 Senior Cadets from various colleges of Chandigarh and Officers participated in the program.

     

    Mr. Sudhir Dewan addressed the audience telling them about how important is organ donation and it provides the opportunity to improve the quality of life and save lives of others. It is the greatest gift one can ever give.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

     

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • How  to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    The entire audience got motivated. It was an interactive session with the Cadets. In the end they showed great interest in doing more programs with MOHAN Foundation. The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Rakesh Thakur, Training Officer.
