MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross for Punjab Vidhan Sabha Employees, Chandigarh - Session 77

  • On 24th August 2017, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on Organ Donation for Staff of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat (Assembley) at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh. It was the part of the First Aid Training Course. Around 58 employees from different departments participated in the session.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on Organ donation and brain death by Ms. Deepika Arora.

     

    The Following topics were discussed during the presentation -

    • Eye Donation & Blood Donation
    • Organ Donation Statistics in India
    • Myths about organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Organ donation and its types – Live & Deceased donation
    • Importance of Donor card
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    Few Queries were raised during the interaction were –

    Whom should we contact for eye donation after Natural Death?

    How long does it take for harvesting the Corneas?

     

    After the presentation informative brochures were given to participants and 15 Donor cards were picked up by the participants.
