MOHAN Foundation Conducts Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Red Cross - Punjab, Chandigarh - Session 115

  • On May 29, 2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the secretary, Red Cross – Punjab, Chandigarh to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their First Aid Students at Vivekanand Bhawan, Chandigarh. Around 65 participants from various parts of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh College Students, Patient Care Attendants, Home Nursing, Nannies and Bus Conductors participated in the program.

     

    Mr. Santosh Kumar, State Training Supervisor addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

     

    Firstly, Aakriti Negi introduced herself to the participants and after that she asked the questions from participants to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

     

    The participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation

     

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation and they would love to share their wish with their families. Participants did applaud in the end for the efforts taken by MOHAN Foundation. 10 donor cards and brochures were picked by the participants after the presentation.
