The Cause Travelers, who will be undertaking a road trip all across India for raising awareness about organ donation, have partnered with MOHAN Foundation.
On 9th December, 2021 MOHAN Foundation along with ROTTO-SOTTO’s Director, Dr. Sujata Patwardhan and Joint Director Dr. Akash Shukla and Consultant Ms. Sujata Ashtekar organized a flag-off event for The cause travelers, a couple who will be undertaking a road trip all across India, raising awareness about organ donation.
There were 45 nursing students of K.E.M hospital who participated in this event. Ms. Sujata Ashtekar introduced the concepts of organ donation to the participants.
Ms. Jaya Jairam welcomed the Chief Guest, Dean of K.E.M Hospital, ROTTO-SOTTO officials, nursing students and the cause traveler couple Mr. and Mrs. Bhal Shekar Chilana and introduced them and their India road trip for creating awareness about organ donation.
Mr. Chilana with his team will be on a 131 day India road trip for the cause of organ donation awareness and will be commencing their mission on 10th Dec 2021, during which they will be travelling through 28 states and 8 Union territories. Throughout their awareness camp they will be conducting awareness programme for public communities like Rotary Club, NGO’s, Hospitals, Schools and Colleges and will be holding these meetings in collaboration with Rotary Clubs and MOHAN Foundation.
Mr. Chilana and his wife spoke a few words about creating awareness on organ donation to the general public. They also shared their previous experience on how they have created awareness through their road trips, which motivated people to sign up for organ donation.
The Dean of K.E.M hospital and ROTTO-SOTTO officials emphasized the importance of raising awareness and flagged off the event, while wishing the travellers success.
It was heartening to see a few curious onlookers approach the car that was decorated with stickers carrying organ donation messages. They were educated about organ donation and thereafter, took the pledge.
The cause traveler’s team thanked MOHAN Foundation, ROTTO-SOTTO officials and Dean of K.E.M Hospital for supporting and organizing this event for them. MOHAN Foundation’s offices across the country will be conducting various awareness events as The Cause Travellers reach various cities.
