On May 12, 2024, LIONS Club of Madhavaram Truck Terminal, organized a PST Installation Programme at District Centre Office Porur, Chennai. This meeting was to induct new members into the LIONS club and to announce the change in management. Mr Paraneethran, Regional Chairperson, Lions Cub and an organ donation supporter, invited MOHAN Foundation to create Awareness on Organ Donation at the meeting.
Mr Ganesh C, Marketing Coordinator, organized an Information Desk at a prime spot in the meeting, and distributed information brochures on organ donation and spoke about organ donation. All the participants were greeted with small garland and were pinned green ribbons. 78 members participated and 27 pledged as donors.
In the meeting Ln Manisekar P, First Vice District Governor, elaborated the activities of LION Club over time, as a part of which he stated how they extend the support to patients on the waiting list. He mentioned that LION club is currently running three centres at Redhills, Chrompet and Kovilambakkam for patients suffering from kidney failure. In these centres the one at Redhills offers dialysis at a subsidized cost of INR 600 and the other offers it completely free of cost.
Followed by Lion Narasimhan R Second Vice District Governor, inducted the new member and explained the upcoming interventions towards the betterment of society. He spoke about the 4th dialysis centre soon to be opened up near Washermanpet, commencing a mobile medical unit, dormitory facility at Madhavaram and Digital Literacy Program.
Finally, the new President, Secretary and Treasurer, Ln Dr. Indra K, Ln Nithiya Kalyani and Ln Jayanthi respectively were inducted by Ln Kamala Mahadevan, Past District Governor. On this occasion to make the event special, the three new office brearers pledged for organ donation and also extended their support.
