  • On May 14, 2020 a webinar was organized on “Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a long and happy life”. The session was conducted by Ms. Bagmisikha Puhan. It was an enlightening talk and threw light on individual sense of purpose and reason for being.

Advocate Bagmisikha Puhan has been providing legal advice and services since 2014. She is currently a Senior Associate at TMT Law Practice in New Delhi. Her specialties include Technology & Intellectual Property, Data Privacy, Transaction and Litigation, Statutory Compliance, Govt. Affairs and Public Policy. Aprt from law, she is deeply interested in philosophy.

The session accentuated that there is a passion inside each individual and a unique talent that gives meaning to our days and drives us to share the best of ourselves till the very end. If we don’t know what our ‘ikigai’ is, our mission should be to discover it. Ikigai is different for all of us, but the one thing we have in common is that we all are searching for meaning. When we spend our days feeling connected to what is meaningful to us, we live more fully and when we lose the connection, we feel despair.

ikigai is hidden deep inside each of us, and finding it requires a patient search. Once we discover our ikigai, pursuing and nurturing it every day will bring new meaning to our life.

ikigai is seen as the convergence of four primary elements:

    • What you love (your passion)
    • What the world needs (your mission)
    • What you are good at (your vocation)
    • What you can get paid for (your profession)

Discovering our own ikigai is said to bring fulfilment, happiness and make us live longer.
