On 13th Aug 2021 at around 6 pm on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms Grishma for giving online awareness about Organ Donation to the college students under the theme – ‘Gift of Life’ – Help Some Live After Your Death.
Dr Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 24 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death & Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand & Uterus transplant.
Dr Jimmy described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet. Online link to the donor card was shared in order to enable the students to take pledge. Dr Jimmy spoke thereafter, inviting the students to join MOHAN Foundation's Organ Donation Ambassador Program. A detail of Organ Donation Helpline number was also shared. About 68 participants attended session & few pledged online to become Organ Donor.
