On 24th January 2023, Rotary Club of Cantonment Secunderabad hosted the Rotary Vocational Awards Night in which Dr. Bhanu Chandra was awarded for his commitment towards the cause of Organ Donation. Ms. Srividya Subramanian introduced Dr. Bhanu Chandra at the event and highlighted his role in promoting deceased organ donation in the states of AP and Telangana.
Dr Bhanu Chandra has been working in the field of Organ Donation from the past 12 years. He is the Operation Manager with MOHAN Foundation and works as the Senior Transplant Coordinator at Osmania General Hospital. He has worked in the field for the past 12 years and has counselled close to 600 potential organ donor families during their darkest hour of grief 80% of these families have given consent for Organ Donation. Thus, giving a new lease of quality life to the patients suffering from end stage organ failure. Additionally, he has conducted close to 800 awareness sessions on Organ donation in schools, colleges, private sectors in both the Telegu states.Thus, sensitising millions with the lifesaving cause. In addition to this, in the year 2015, he received “Swamy Narayana best Transplant Coordinators Award” from NATCO and in the year 2019 he received “Best Transplant Coordinator Award” from NOTTO, Govt of India.
Dr. Bhanu Chandra was one of the three awardees who were felicitated in for their extraordinary contributions in the field of social work. All the Rotarians highly appreciated Dr. Bhanu Chandra and his extraordinary contribution in the field of organ donation.
Dr. Bhanu Chandra, who dedicates this award to all donor families in the city, also spoke about his mentor, Ms. Lalitha Raghuram, who inspired and motivated him for this life-saving cause.
