Dr. Christopher Taylor Barry, Advisory Board Member of MOHAN Foundation, joined Dr. Noble Gracious, Nodal Director of the Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS), and his team to visit the Pariyaram Medical College, Division of Liver Transplantation, Kannur, Kerala, on 13th December 2014. This hospital recently received accreditation to perform deceased donor liver transplants and the plans to move forward were discussed with the Liver Transplant Surgery Chief Dr. Byju Kundil. To mark the occasion, a half day conference was held for over 100 attendees including Staff, residents, medical students and nurses. Topics included KNOS’s success, brain death declaration and donor management. Dr. Barry delivered a speech entitled “Deceased Donor Liver Transplantation Basics” that outlined critical elements necessary in building a quality deceased donor liver transplant program.
