Dr. Ravi Wankhede Director of MOHAN Foundation, Mr.Bulu Behera & Ms.Kanchan Shewde Transplant Coordinators of MOHAN Foundation Nagpur Centre, were invited by Mr. Girish Deodhar at Vidarbha Industries Association, Nagpur for talk on deceased organ donation on 26th February 2014. Dr. Ravi Wankhede gave a talk which highlighted that organ can be done when living and after Natural death & after Brain death. He explained that brain death is a permanent & irreversible condition hence such patients can donate many life saving organs such as two kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, etc if the relative consent to donate the organs.
26 participants were present in that organ donation awareness talk. Two persons picked the donor card Dr. Wankhede gave information about MOHAN Foundation, it’s activities , transplant coordinator training programme,use of donor card benefits of help line number.
Many people wanted to help in spreading the awareness in their Industries. Some questions asked by the audience were.
1.What is the processes of Eye donation?
2.Where is MOHAN Foundation Office?
3.Will the family members get any benefit if anyone in the family donate organs ?
After the discussion Mr. Ashit Sinha, President of Human Development Institute gave a vote of thanks to MOHAN Foundation Staff as well as participants member.
