CSIR unit in Taramani celebrates Indian Organ Donation day

  •  The Structural Engineering Research Centre of the CSIR Chennai celebrated Indian Organ Donation day on Aug 1, 2024 in their premises with an awareness talk. MOHAN Foundaton was requested  to do the needful. Around 140 staff of the centre came for the event/ Everyone was given a green ribbon and an information brochure.

    Dr Hemal Kanvinde and Mrs Arshiya Fathima represented MOHAN Foundation. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Director Dr. N. Anandavalli. In her address she raised the issue of patients waiting for organs and about the need to learn and pladge for donation. 

    Dr Hemal Kanvinde spoke of the concepts of Organ and Tissue donation.  She explained Brain Death, how, when and what can be donated. She took some time to go through the misconceptions in people’s minds about organ donation and gave information on the simple process of pledging.

    A video explain brain death was shown to the audience, followed by an exciting online quiz on Tissue and Organ donation. This quiz was conducted by Mrs Arshiya Fathima. All those with correct answers were given a pen by the centre.  This was followed by a recipient testimony via a video.

    The event ended with prize distribution for the staff who had participated in other quiz on organ donation run by the centre. MOHAN Foundation thanks M.Elumalai, Sr. Superintending Engineer, CSIR-CMC, Taramani, Chennai for his efforts in organising the event and the management for the support to the cause.
