Batch 18 of Organ Donation Ambassador training conducted online

  • Organ Donation Ambassador Trainees  underwent the Module 2  part of the training  on Nov 3, 2022 via a zoom meeting.  15 participants formed the Batch 18 of Ambassadors. Prior to this  the trainees had successfully completed the Gift of life Course. Impact champions (10) of Protean eGov Technologies Limited were part of the Ambassador Training.

    The faculty of the training were Dr Hemal Kanvinde and Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi of MOHAN Foundation. Self introduction and about the Organ Donation Ambassador program was discussed in the first session. In the 2nd session, the participants interacted with experts in the field of Donation and Transplantation. Dr Mitul Shah, Liver Transplant Surgeon of  Sir HN Reliance Hospital, Ms Bhavana Shah, Transplant Manager, Wockhart Hospital and Ms Jaya Jairam Project Director, MOHAN Foundation Mumbai as well as a kidney recipient were the experts. 

    The trainees had many questions and clarifications: 

    1. Why is there a gap of six hours for the 2nd apnea test?
    2. Are there any specific sayings in any religion to support the donation of organs
    3. How are the recipient listed - what is the criteria?
    4. How secure is the donor registry?
    5. Can a person repeat his organ donation pledge, like every year?
    6. Can a recipient become an organ donor?
    7. What was meant by expiry date in the movie Aye Zindagi, does it mean that the transplant has a limited life?  And many more.  All questions were answered by the experts. 

    The next session was about creating awareness. Dr Hemal gave a presentation with examples of activities done by other ambassadors as well by MOHAN Foundation staff. She encouraged all of them to use social media tossed our positive messages about organ donation. 

    The next two session were conducted by Dr Muneet Kaur Sahi. The first session was the “Writing of a Thank You letter”  She gave tips about how to fill in the shoes of an organ recipient and what points to cover when writing the letter. Communication of gratitude is one of the ways to become empathetic towards the cause. All participants wrote and read out their letters and Dr Muneet gave comments about the output. 

    In her next session, Dr Muneet spoke on how to make a good quality presentation. She shared her own ppt to illustrate her points. She emphasized that it is good to understand the topic and make your own presentation. 

    At the end, some participants gave their feedback - increase the time of Q&A with experts, need for more mentoring by MOHAN Foundation staff. All of them appreciated the work of MOHAN Foundation.
