On May 27, 2015, MOHAN Foundation - Jaipur Citizens Forum (MFJCF) conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Manipal Hospital, Jaipur.
This Vidhyadhar Nagar based hospital is a Multispeciality hospital with 300 bedded and well equipped hospital which serves the general public.
Mr. Utpal Rajoria, Project Manager explained the concepts of organ donation and transplantation primarily focusing on the types of donations, how to diagnose brain death, tissue donation, the Transplant Law of India and statistics on the said subject. A short film on brain death was shown. The session was conducted in an interactive manner where the participants chipped in with their views on recent coverage of organ donation stories in the media and also clarified their doubts.
It was really a very good session for all staff members of Manipal Hospital. They knew the concept of cadaver organ transplant and showed their interest to do work in this project with MFJCF as a volunteer.
The pictures and stories of few of our donors were also shown to which the participants related. Nephrologists and senior cardiologists also attended this session and asked few questions. All nursing staff filled the pledge form.
35 participants attended the session and 18 donor cards were picked up.
