On 23rd September 2021, MOHAN Foundation, in association with Transplants – Help the Poor Foundation conducted Organ Donation Awareness session along with Blood Donation camp. The program was organised by Dr Abhishek at Dr Harne Dental Hospital, Patansaongi, Saoner to help cancer patients for hospital staff and Blood Donor volunteers. For blood collection they invited CIIHO (Central India Institute of Haematologist and Oncologist) Cancer Hospital and Blood Bank, Dhantoli, Nagpur.
The session was attended by in-house doctors, staff, OPD patients and their relatives. Ms Prarthana Dwivedi, Transplant Coordinator was the speaker for session.
She explained the concepts of organ donation, why and when is transplantation required, various organs that can be donated, types of donors, types of death, viability of organs after retrieval, difference between brain death and coma, Transplantation of Human Organs Act, myths and misconceptions related to organ donation. Information about the toll-free organ donation helpline (1800 103 7100) was also shared.

Total 50 units blood collected all members are participated in blood donation campaign to help Cancer patients. About 88 participants including Blood Donor volunteers attended session and around 45 pledges were taken and few pledged online. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Dr Abhishek and hospital team for supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
