Awareness Talk on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets & JCO’s at NCC Academy, Ropar, Punjab

  • On 14th June 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Commandant, Col L K Aggarwal to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets & JCOs at NCC Academy-Ropar, Punjab. Around 500 Cadets from various schools of Punjab and Officers participated in the program.

     

    Mr. Dewan started the lecture giving general information about organ donation.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants
    • Importance of the donor card
    • How to pledge or sign up for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation's website
    • MOHAN Foundation’s mission & vision

     

    The entire audience got motivated and was an interactive session with the Cadets.
