Awareness Talk on Organ Donation by MOHAN Foundation at Yrela, Grampanchayat, Nagpur

  • On January 17, 2025, MOHAN Foundation hosted an awareness session on organ donation at the invitation of Dr. Veena Nagdev, the NSS in-charge of G.S. College, Nagpur. The session took place at Manaba Mandir, Yrela, Grampanchayat, Nagpur, and was attended by around 55 NSS students and faculty members.

    The purpose of the session was to educate participants about organ donation and transplantation, highlight its importance, and address common misconceptions surrounding the topic.

    Mr. Bulu J. Behera, a representative of MOHAN Foundation, delivered an engaging presentation covering several key aspects of organ donation. He began by explaining the different types of death, including cardiac death and brain death, before presenting an overview of organ donation statistics in India and stressing the urgent need for more donors. He clarified widespread myths about organ donation, distinguished between natural death and brain death, and discussed the two types of organ donation—live and deceased. Mr. Behera also highlighted the importance of carrying a donor card and shared the mission and vision of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation.

    The interactive session encouraged students and faculty to ask questions, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject.

    The talk had a positive impact, with all participants expressing their willingness to donate organs. Notably, 6 attendees signed the pledge form, committing to becoming organ donors. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Behera, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Veena Nagdev madam for the opportunity to conduct the event.
