On 7th August2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Chennai for delivering an awareness talk on ‘Organ Donation’ from 3.30 pm to 5pm at their Chennai Spencer’s campus.
Mr. Sampath of TCS introduced the topic and the need for the talk. The session was carried out by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Q.A Officer) by asking what comes to their mind when they hear about organ donation. There were good responses. Later she explained concept of organ donation, types of death, concept of brain death, types of organs and tissues that can be donated, difference between coma and brain death. Various myths and facts related to organ donation were discussed.
Dr. Hemal went on introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision, and objectives. The concept of donor card and how to register as an organ donor in MOHAN Foundation website was explained by Ms. Alishya Susan Poulose (Transplant Coordinator).
Participants cleared their doubt on the concept, there were positive responses on the talk. The discussion points were on body mutilation, patient registry and organ allocation, feasibility of donation in smaller towns. There were 41 participants for the session and almost all of them pledged as a donor after the talk.
