On April 10, 2024, Mr. Gabriel from the MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness talk for the employees of Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Benaulim, Goa.
Gabriel began the presentation by introducing himself and the MOHAN Foundation. He shared with the audience his reasons for joining the Foundation and promoting the cause.
He explained the significance of organ donation, the different organs available for donation, the organs that both living and brain-dead individuals can donate, and the definition of brain stem death. He presented all these topics to the staff via PowerPoint.
He also described the various organ donation pledge options. He presented the QR code and Form 2 of the driving license, explaining that ticking the box signifies the holder's organ donation pledge. He emphasised that it is most important to inform one's family or next-of-kin about their desire to donate organs, as in India, an opt-in policy is followed where the family or next-of-kin’s consent is required to proceed with the donation.
A brief video on what brain death is was shown to the participants.
A total of 20 employees attended the session, and four pledged to donate their organs
