On 13th July 2019, MOHAN Foundation being Knowledge Partner of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital and TOI was invited by Ms Dimple Kachalia (HR) and TOI for giving awareness about the Organ Donation under Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital initiative ‘TIMES ORGAN DONATION DRIVE’ to their employees at their Head Office.
Dr. Jimmy Gupta held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She then introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for the public. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd. She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was not familiar to the crowd. She also explained about the religious barrier and myths related to organ donation.
Also they were invited to join in our volunteering program and support the cause. Details of Organ donation Helpline No. 1800 103 7100 was also shared.Mr. Vijit Nair (Vice President) also spoke positively about taking up the cause of Organ Donation and requested employees to give a thought about the concept and discuss in their families.
About 70 employees attended the awareness session. About 20 pledges were taken & few were filled online. We thank Mr.Vijit Nair (Vice President), Ms. Dimple Kachalia (HR) Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Times of Indiafor inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
