Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities, Sector-31 Chandigarh

  • On 8th March 2025, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Niharika, NSS Program Officer to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS volunteers at Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities, Sector-31 Chandigarh   Around 40 volunteers attended the session.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma.

     

    The following topics were explained in detail:

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • The transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Transplant Law
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ donation Myths and Fact
    • Eye Donation

     A short informative film on brain death was shown and the importance of family consent in the process of organ donation was also explained in detail.

    It was indeed an amazing session. All the NSS Volunteers, Teachers & Resource person in the session expressed their support for the noble cause.
